Our "Hanover Community Calendar" is populated with events submitted by you! This calendar highlights non-profit, special and neighbor events all across our area.

Hosting an event? If you, or an area organization, is hosting an event let us know. Event postings should follow these parameters:

1. The event must take place within Hanover County OR be hosted by a Hanover Chamber member

2. The event must be community focused and intended to provide support, fundraising, care or fun to area residents and chamber members

3. Note this calendar is not intended for reoccurring seminars or group meetings, sales events or workshops given by individual for-profit companies

When you submit events, please be sure to include the date, time, location/address, web link and an image or logo. Community calendar postings that fit our criteria will be made publicly visible on our website and in newsletters within a week of being sent to us; send events 4-6 weeks in advance for maximum exposure.     Don Miller Veterans Business Outreach Center - 3/23 10am

    The VBOC conducts Boots to Business (Introduction to Entrepreneurship) classes at all active duty bases approximately 60 times a year in person as well as virtually. We also conduct classes for Personal/Business Finance, Accounting, Business Planning, Real Estate, Legal Issues, and Franchising utilizing trusted Subject Matter Experts. We discuss Feasibility Analysis, SWOT analysis, and working individually with clients on their Business Plan. Mr. Miller will also discuss GovCon (I have over 20 years’ experience) and the importance of the economics of each individual business. Donald will also discuss certifications as we are equipped to assist our clients with their submissions.

    Secretariat Day

    Saturday, March 28

    Around the "Secretariat Racing Into History" monument

    located at the corner of England St and Railroad Ave, Ashland


    This family-style event on Secretariat’s birthday takes place around the “Secretariat Racing Into History” monument in the Reynolds Family Plaza at Randolph-Macon College.  ADMISSION IS FREE. The Secretariat Day festivities will include a new opening ceremony, a “Meet the Minis” pen with miniature horses, live music from several groups, new Secretariat merchandise, food trucks, birthday cake, local vendors, and lots of kids’ activities. The Ashland Theatre will host a special talk on Virginia’s horse racing history and a free showing of the Secretariat movie. Come celebrate Virginia's own Triple Crown legend, Secretariat! Presented by Secretariat For Virginia, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of Secretariat in and beyond his home state of Virginia.

    Scotchtown's 5th Annual Fiber Festival

    Save the date to join us on April 11, 2026, as we celebrate spring, shearing of the sheep, and fiber production at Scotchtown’s 5th Annual Fiber Festival! Bring your family and join us as we celebrate spring, the shearing of the sheep, and fiber production at Scotchtown on Saturday, April 11th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.!

    Sheep shearers from Delly’s Delights Farms will be here answering all your questions about our sheep, the process of shearing, and the important role of preparing the fleece for dyeing and spinning. Members from the Clothos Handspinners guild, an educational non-profit organization located in Richmond, Virginia, and the Louisa County Heritage Society will be on-site demonstrating the process of wool production, including carding, spinning, weaving, and dyeing.

    Other activities to enjoy throughout the day:

    *Virginia Museum of Fine Arts ArtMobile & Exhibit: Virginia as America: Navigating ‘Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.’
    *Special Exhibit of 18th and 19th century clothing and textiles

    The open-house tour and fiber festival programs are both included at $10 for General Admission. Students and Preservation Virginia members are $5, and children 12 and under are free.

    Dogs and other pets are not permitted at this event, with the exception of trained and documented service animals.

    The Arc of Hanover Golf Tournament

    The cost of the tournament is $125 per golfer, which includes lunch and a hole-in-one contest. Mulligans and 50:50 raffle/prize tickets will be sold at the course to help raise additional funds for our organization.
