Contact the event host directly with any questions about an event.

Our "Hanover Community Calendar" is populated with events submitted by you! This calendar highlights non-profit, special and neighbor events all across our area.

Hosting an event? If you, or an area organization, is hosting an event let us know. Event postings should follow these parameters:

    1. The event must take place within Hanover County OR be hosted by a Hanover Chamber member
    2. The event must be community focused and intended to provide support, fundraising, care or fun to area residents and chamber members
    3. Note this calendar is not intended for reoccurring seminars or group meetings, sales events or workshops given by individual for-profit companies

    When you submit events, please be sure to include the date, time, location/address, web link and an image or logo. Community calendar postings that fit our criteria will be made publicly visible on our website and in newsletters within a week of being sent to us; send events 4-6 weeks in advance for maximum exposure.       250 Years of Liberty and Lights: The Annual Holiday Illumination

       Saturday, November 22nd

      6411 Heatherwood Drive, Mechanicsville

      "See the Church light up amidst holiday music, food trucks and Santa himself!"

      Special Guests: Local Cup Food Truck, Nana and Papa’s Food Truck, Hanover Museum of History and Culture, Hanover Historical Society, Scotchtown DAR, Historic Polegreen Church Gift Shop. 

      Musical Guests: 3:00—Marshall and Company, 3:25—Sounds of the Spirit, 3:50—Marshal and Company, 4:15—One True King, 4:35—Pole Green Elementary School, 5:00—Illumination.

      Bring your lawn chair and stay awhile! Take pictures with Santa in his sleigh!

      Ashland Olde Time Holiday Parade

       Sunday, November 23rd, 2025

      Thompson St. in the center of Ashland, VA


      The 56th annual parade is being held, as usual, on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. It will step off on November 23rd, Sunday at 2 pm but invitations are required. Interested participants, who have not participated in the past, may submit their requests including name, email address and type of entry to ashlandkiwanis@gmail.com for inclusion in our database of participants.

      As we continue to celebrate the veterans in our lives and in our surrounding community, here is another local story for anyone to follow along with.

      Homes for Troops has an active project building a custom house in Mechanicsville for Iraq war veteran Brian Pearce. Brian suffered permanent blindness when his vehicle hit an explosive device.

      Wings of Hope Ranch: The Nativity

       Saturday, December 6th

      13280 Tower Rd, Doswell


      This event is free of charge and fun for the whole family! It will take place in a large indoor arena at a ranch. Guests should make sure to bring chairs for their viewing of the Nativity celebration.

      They are also hosting a shoe drive with all proceeds raised supporting the Richard Anderson Rancher Fund. Please bring your gently used shoes to raise funds for Rancher programs. Any style or size shoe is accepted.

      Deck the Halls with Hanover Safe Place

       Sunday, December 7th

      500 S Center Street, Ashland VA 23005


      Deck the Halls, an annual holiday decoration making fundraiser, will be held at Hanover Arts and Activities Center in Ashland on Sunday, December 7, to benefit Hanover Safe Place. For a small entry donation, guests will receive three tickets for hardware (wreath forms, centerpiece bowls, vases, etc.) and three bows tickets. There will be experts to help you every step of the way. Create wreaths, swags, boxwood circles, table toppers, candle surrounds, and more. Our fresh cut greenery includes pine, cedar, hemlock, Fraser fir, holly and more. Create wreaths, swags, boxwood circles, table toppers, candle surrounds, and more! Our fresh-cut greenery includes pine, cedar, hemlock, Fraser fir, holly, nandina, and boxwood all cut from historic farms in Hanover County. You are also welcome to bring your own, recycled wreath forms!
